We went to the Westword Music Showcase today which we have always enjoyed in the past but this year not so much. Here Carl is expressing his displeasure with the band "Cursive" that was playing on the outdoor stage - truly horrible. The sound of the singer alone wanted to make me shoot myself in the head so I could get away from the grating sound coming out of his mouth. I still haven't figured out how to describe this manner of singing- kinda whiney, high pitched and grating- it seems to be a popular way for guys to sing these days as a lot of the bands that were playing today had this similar sound.
I really wish this picture would have turned out better, but lesson learned I will bring a proper camera from now on. This was a picture of the most violent mosh pit action I have ever seen. The band was "To Be Eaten" a death metal. David is friends with the guitar player/vocalist. I have never seen more violent arms flailing, elbows thrown and people getting pissed off. People were pushing and falling everywhere and we were kinda trapped against the wall. We left when we began to fear for our safety- I was sure a full-on brawl would break out at any moment.All in all we had a good day because we got to spend it with Dawn and David- we will definitely do a little better pre-planning next year!
