One of the many interesting items I sell at work. This is a one centavo coin or token from the Culion Leper Colony in the Philippines from 1927. Back in the day when people with leprosy were sequestered in colonies to stop the spread of their illness they minted these tokens for use by the patients. It was feared that the disease could be spread if they used the same coins as the general population. In the 1950's it was discovered that leprosy wasn't particularly contagious and patients were improving with new medications so the minting of these tokens was discontinued. Kinda interesting!

We took Maxx over to Alan and Phoebe's house to play with their dogs. It was a little scary at first as they got to know each other but Maxx eventually mellowed out and had fun playing with all the doggies. Nanaimo didn't make it in this picture but here is Maxx playing with Milka and Oscar.

My new collection of Siam Niello sterling silver jewelry. We get this stuff in at work all the time and I have always loved it so I decided to start my own collection. This jewelry was made in Thailand formerly known as Siam in the 40's and 50's. During WWII and Korea soldiers would bring this home to their wife or girlfriend as a souvenir.

More birds! These little birds are nesting in the decorative concrete rings on an apartment building in our neighborhood.

I went to Petsmart tonight because Maxx's training collar broke. I always like to visit the tropical birds when I go because they are so social and like interaction with people. This bird was so cute and apparently is just a baby. I talked to him for quite awhile and he crawled up and down the cage to get food from the bottom and show off for me. So sweet!

Last year about this time this was a beautiful tree that was at the edge of the parking lot where I work until it was cut down for daring to crack the concrete that it was encased in. I really hate it when people cut down trees like that. The most irritating thing is when I heard the person responsible talking about it like it was no big deal. I really don't understand people sometimes. Just recently I noticed a new seedling on the side of the stump. The tree lives!

Dawn & David at home. It's been 42 days so we went up to Denver to spend time with D & D. We went and had Thai food - excellent! David had his checkup recently and is cancer free- no need for check-ups for 6 months. Hooray!

Except for my new 3 pack of Cherry Chapstick the rest of the lip balms and glosses will not be used by me most likely. I try to buy other stuff and I never end up using any of it- except for maybe a few times. I told Patsy that I would try to use the all natural fancy stuff in place of my Chapstick- I made it a day and a half. I can't do it anymore. I don't like it!

This is my sister Kelly's new sectional sofa that I found yesterday on Craigslist! I love Craigslist! This was such a deal - only $150! Angela recently got an excellent sectional on craigslist so I have been looking out for one ever since. This sofa looks and feels like no one ever sat on it and it is in excellent condition.

I went to Nebraska for Easter weekend and had a nice time with family. I have 4 pictures for today because I couldn't decide- starting with my nephew Aaron.

A guy dropped by and brought my Dad his newest pets - a pair of peacocks!

Pecos- one of the best dogs ever!

Frankie and Johnny - very cute together on their bed.

Maxx investigating the storm drains on the street. Maxx never used to pay attention to them until we saw a family of raccoons go down into one one night. Now he looks down every one every time we walk by.

I was processing my pictures today for my auctions tomorrow when I discovered that Winged Victory on the Mexican Onza had a breast augmentation at some point between 2002 and 2008. I thought it was quite hilarious! Click to make the picture bigger and you can easily see the difference.

Trash laying around is one of my biggest pet peeves. I actually cleaned up trash around this house last spring so I guess I need to do it again! I usually take a bag when we walk around with Maxx (in addition to his dog poo bag) and I haven't been carrying it lately. I need one of those spikey things that people carry around when they are doing community service- maybe a vest too!

Patsy invited me to a "lotion party" today. I'm generally afraid of product parties, having gone to too many Tupperware, candle, crystal, etc parties when I was younger I tend to avoid them all now. But, I needed some lotion so I thought I'll just buy a bottle of lotion and call it good- well I ended up with $70 worth of lotions and face product and lip gloss and a whole slew of free samples! I love samples- in fact 18 of the items above are samples! The lady who makes this stuff is awesome and she uses all natural ingrediants and yummy smelling fragrances like cranberry, lilac, sugar cookie and cherry almond to name a few. Great stuff, my skin feels so soft! Hoity Toity is the product name. Website: www.finelotions.com.

Movie night at our house tonight. We had dinner and then watched "Let the Right One In" a Swedish vampire movie. It was an interesting movie though I think we did the wrong thing by watching it dubbed in English- it was kind of hilarious at times due to the voices and interpretation. You would think that they would try to get voices that match the characters but not so much.

The squirrels hang out around the huge hole they chewed in the neighbors roof. He fixed it once but never reinforced the area or anything so they just chewed right through again. Better his house than ours!

Only 53 calories in this awesome salad- perfect for filling up on a down day! I was surprised that you can have so much food for so few calories.

I know this is a lame picture but at least it is colorful and pretty! What's really sad is that this was one of the most exciting parts of the day- salad!

I kinda hate April. The reason is that it's springtime and it seems like it should be warm and springy but without fail April comes along and it is just snow, snow, snow. A few months ago I was wishing and hoping for snow but it was WINTER. Why can't it just rain.

Maxx and me snuggled up on the couch- I love it when he curls up behind my legs- such a warm little guy too.
