So, I've come to the conclusion that I am a bit Hoard-y. I'm sure this comes as no surprise to many people I know. I've been trying to clean stuff out of the basement for months and I'm having a really hard time with getting rid of stuff. I get sentimental or I feel bad because someone gave me something or I think that I'm going to need it some day. Also I keep thinking that I could sell some of it. I have lots of collectible stuff and I just know that if I had the time I could make some money back from it- but will I do it? If I didn't have to look through it all it I almost think it would be easier- just box it up and forget I ever had it all! Anyway I'm working on it and working on my reasons for needing it all.
The three little bird houses in the picture are a good example - did I need to buy them? Sure, they were 90% off after Christmas and they are really cute, but did I need them? Did I need three????

Sometimes I get sad when I see the things that people bring in to sell us. This is a beautiful child's dinner set in sterling silver. I love the graphics on it. They just don't make things like this anymore! It has lots of dents on it, probably from a baby banging it on the table. I don't know if I will be able to sell it because of this, but I will try.

Tonight was the Walking Dead season finale so to celebrate we made Zombies to drink! Pretty tasty but I have to admit I had to add more fruit juice to mine as it was just too strong. Here's how to make:
Zombie
- 1/2 ounce white rum
- 1 1/2 ounces golden rum
- 1 ounce dark rum
- 1/2 ounce 151-proof rum
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 1 teaspoon pineapple juice
- 1 teaspoon papaya juice
- 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
Glass Type: Collins glass
Instructions
Stir together all these ingredients (the juice in the recipe is what mixologist David Embury calls the "mystery ingredient"; it can be pineapple juice, passion fruit nectar, coconut milk, apricot, or cherry brandy -- just about anything this side of Romilar) except the 151 and pour into a 14-ounce glass three-fourths full of cracked ice. Float the 151 as a lid (by pouring it into a spoon and gently dipping it under the surface of the drink). Then, if the spirit moves you, take a match to this mixture; it will burn. Garnish with mint (either straight or dipped in lime juice and then superfine sugar) and/or fruit. (A particularly fetching touch: On a toothpick, impale a lemon slice or pineapple cube between two maraschino cherries and lay this fruit kabob atop of the drink). Supply a straw and, after two, a hammock. After three: a stretcher.

I know that it's probably bad but Maxx has only had 3 baths in his life! He's generally seems to be sweet smelling and self cleaning. We thought he needed a bath though, so today I coaxed him into a bath with treats and we suds him up. He was not happy! But after he got out of the bath and we dried him off a bit he zoomed around the house in excitement. Now he's clean and fresh.

I worked a long day today, 9:30 to 7:00 so not much else happened on this fine Saturday. I was too tired to go out so we ordered in Chinese food and I got the most cliched dish ever - Sweet and Sour Chicken. Not my usual, but sometimes you just want nuggets of breaded chicken with neon red sauce!
