This is one of my favorite things to see when I turn the corner right by my work. This car is awesome- I just can't believe someone put so much effort into the paint job. The paint is sparkly by the way! I thought it would be a guy who owns this car but I saw the driver one day and it was a lady.

Saturday, Phoebe, Angela and I went to Phoebe's Moms house with all our junk for the Old North End neighborhood wide yard sale. It was great because there were about 50 yard sales going on all at once and the neighborhood group did all the advertising. Tons of people showed up and we all did pretty well! I sold some stuff and made a good chunk of change. I was exhausted when it was all over from standing around in the sun for hours (SPF 50 applied twice- no sunburn!) and since I was up until 1 o'clock the night before and got up at 7. That's why I didn't get around to posting this until today (Sunday).

Happy Birthday Phoebe! The big 29!
So we were just hanging out, enjoying a few beers (a delicious sour beer made by Alan- Flanders Red) when all of a sudden we heard a crash. We looked out and a girl in a little red car hit Phoebe's parked Bronco.
Her story was that she swerved to avoid hitting a raccoon but later it was determined that she was quite intoxicated. She first hit a truck across the street and then apparently over-corrected and came across to hit the Bronco. Both her airbags deployed and it looked like her car was a total loss. The Bronco may or may not have sustained damaged. Anyway, other than that craziness, a nice evening at the Stiles house.

So tonight we spent 4 and a half hours at a Colorado Handgun Safety Class and here is my certificate! Now I just need to get a gun, and some handgun training, and apply for my license and I can carry concealed! It actually was a very interesting class but I really do not do well in a classroom environment, there is just always someone in the class who will not shut up and they have to interject their opinion and experience into every damn thing that gets discussed. The class was only supposed to be 4 hours. I also could have done without the "Liberal" bashing. Oh well- this "Liberal" is just trying to even up the sides- some of us should have guns when the revolution comes! (just kidding - sort of)

One of the more disgusting items that we get in at the coin shop is dental gold. Crowns and bridges and all manner of dental appliances that are made of gold can be sold for the melt value. What is even worse is that usually the people up front have to take a hammer and pound what's left of the owners teeth out of them. I am really glad that I don't have gold in my mouth. If I wanted to have a nice gold tooth accent I could purchase one of the more recent acquisitions at the shop- gold tooth caps. All shapes and sizes for any tooth you desire- 18k gold!

We went to the Westword Music Showcase today which we have always enjoyed in the past but this year not so much. Here Carl is expressing his displeasure with the band "Cursive" that was playing on the outdoor stage - truly horrible. The sound of the singer alone wanted to make me shoot myself in the head so I could get away from the grating sound coming out of his mouth. I still haven't figured out how to describe this manner of singing- kinda whiney, high pitched and grating- it seems to be a popular way for guys to sing these days as a lot of the bands that were playing today had this similar sound.
I really wish this picture would have turned out better, but lesson learned I will bring a proper camera from now on. This was a picture of the most violent mosh pit action I have ever seen. The band was "To Be Eaten" a death metal. David is friends with the guitar player/vocalist. I have never seen more violent arms flailing, elbows thrown and people getting pissed off. People were pushing and falling everywhere and we were kinda trapped against the wall. We left when we began to fear for our safety- I was sure a full-on brawl would break out at any moment.
All in all we had a good day because we got to spend it with Dawn and David- we will definitely do a little better pre-planning next year!

I took pictures today- forgot my camera at work so I will add picture on Monday!
Ok, here is one of the pictures I took on Friday of me modelling this awesomely huge gold necklace that someone sold to us for scrap. This is what I would wear if I were a lady who lunched, or from Texas I suppose!

We found this letter in some stuff we had laying around at work. It is from February 23, 1933. Here is the transcript:
Dear Mr. McReynolds:
To you as the water superintendent I wish to make a confession.
Several years ago I went fishing in one of the reservoirs of the water system of Colorado Springs, which I am quite satisfied was not the proper thing to do. I want you to forgive me and I will make it right, if you will let me know what to do about it. Please answer as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Esther Pezholdt
P.S. We are all going to stand before the Judgement Bar of God some day to be judged for the deeds done in the body and we must have our sins confessed and put under the Blood of Jesus Christ and be born again if we expect to make Heaven our home. Let's meet in Heaven; what do you say? May God bless you!
Sincerely,
E.P.
Pretty intense for a little fishing- that's some guilt!

Went to the courthouse today for a continuance on our subpoenas. I have come to the conclusion that I will never do anything illegal as I do not want to be on the other side of the system. We are continued until Wednesday and we find out tomorrow if we will have to go back to testify. I really hope not.

Me clasping my hands in victory for meeting my first weight loss goal! I'm down about 15 pounds now. I didn't weigh myself when I first started because I was too scared, so I definitely know I have lost 7 pounds since I weighed, but I know I lost some before that and so I am estimating it at 15 based on the current weight loss of about a pound a week. Carl has lost 19 so far. Hooray!

I went to the ARC tonight and one of my favorite things to look at are the amateur art and craft projects that get donated. I love the paintings and sculptures and string art and weird decorative items. This looks like something someone made in pottery class. I'm not sure what it is but it was pretty interesting- I almost want to go back and buy it..

I finished one of my projects off of my list today- going through my clothes to get rid of stuff and swap out my winter clothes for summer clothes- though I still need some of the warmer stuff, so cold today! I have 14 pairs of shoes to sell, give away, donate. Some of them brand new- Angela, these are the shoes!

This morning I was reading a book for a new project I was going to start. The chapter was about time management and following through with the project until the end. As I was reading this, drinking my coffee and trying to wake up I realized that I already had far too many projects going to start a new one, and I realized that I have a problem with completion. So I made a list of all of the things I have started and not finished and it is long!
Pictured above is one of the things I need to do- the new pot has been sitting on the porch for a least 2 weeks now. I'm going to work on something on the list every night until I finish it all- lots to do!
