Last picture! I can't believe I made it the whole year! It was a challenge at times but all in all I had a lot of fun with this project.
Here we are toasting the New Year with Lindeman's Framboise Lambic, since we are not fans of champagne.
Happy New Year!

Tonight we finally made it over to the "Christmas House" as we call it. We always try to go by at least once each year, I made Carl drive by three times tonight! It's great because they live right off the alley and they have the whole front of the house and all down the side into the backyard filled with lights and decorations. You drive really slow down the alley and you can see it all. It reminds me of when I was a kid and we would go to Cinderella City where they had the whole mall decorated with moving Christmas displays. These people have everything lit up and there are skiers, sledders, skaters, moving snowmen, Santa's Workshop with the elves building toys and tons of other things- we love it!

Finally back to work today and starting to get things organized for year-end inventory. Not my favorite thing to do! The good thing about inventory is getting everything organized and finding things that I had forgotten about that I can sell.
This item was a pretty recent purchase for the store. This is a "Bryan Dollar" issued during the 1896 Presidential election. The candidates were William Jennings Bryan and William McKinley. These oversize "coins" were issued to ridicule the so-called Free Silver doctrine of Bryan who advocated the free coinage of silver and a bi-metallic monetary standard where silver would be valued at a ratio of 16 to 1 gold. McKinley and his supporters favored the gold standard and said that if the 16 to 1 ratio were literally applied then a dollars worth of silver would make a coin as large as a stove lid. Thus the oversize Morgan Dollar like coin!
As always, this older stuff just amazes me due to the quality and details of the item. Imagine political items like this being made in this day and age- it would never happen. Now it's just plastic and paper, all so disposable. Information I found on this says it was made of zinc or lead- this one seems like lead to me. It's amazing the history I learn just being at work!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do much after Christmas shopping, but I did have Carl run me over to JC Penney's to see if they had any of these lighted Gingerbread-style houses left. They were $100 regular price. He took me there and they had one left at 75% off- so only $25! I am so happy that I got one, I think it is really cute.

My little dog is not afraid of fire at all! Right after I took this he looked like he was going to try to get closer and lay down in the flames so Carl put the screen back in place! It definitely worries me a little.
On a separate note being sick really makes me angry. I spend a lot of time while I'm sick pissed off at the failure of my immune system! Very irritating.

Tonight we watched "Elf" and opened one present for Christmas Eve. Carl got a nice copy of the Zombie Survival Guide which he found to be a hilarious present as he was making me watch zombie related videos on Youtube that were made by the guys who did Shaun of the Dead, earlier in the evening. Very Christmasy, I know. My throat hurts so bad I can hardly talk or swallow- good times!

Parade of Lights!
So there I was, at the Parade of Lights! I had been worried that I would have trouble getting good pictures due to the bright lights on the floats and the dark night, but there were lights in the trees and I thought that the pictures would come out great! So I framed up my first shot of the first brightly lit float and I pressed the button and the camera screen went dark and it said "Battery Exhausted". You think I would have learned my lesson by now after all I have done this year! Anyway, took my phone out and took a picture so I would have at least one. So disappointing and boy was it cold!

This is my interesting item of the day! An 18k gold ingot that weighs about 3/4 of a troy ounce. It is engraved and embellished with all different kinds of symbols and initials and enhanced with a diamond and ruby. There are also several "1,000,000.00" engraved on the front and back. I was trying to figure out what this is and I wonder if it was some kind of memory pendant and they had it engraved for every million they made - not sure! I really think it is a beautiful, unique item.

Aaron has a little bit of a shrieking problem right now- it is earsplitting! I went outside to take pictures of the roosters during one of the episodes. Later, I tried taking his picture during one of his screaming bouts- he immediately stopped to smile and pose with his Mommy- very cute!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I am not really a joiner- I like to be alone a lot, I get anxious around big groups of people and often have to force myself to go places rather than stay at home. But really there is nothing like being in a stadium full of people all rooting for the same team and feeling the pure joy of your team playing a winning game! If you've never experienced that you are really missing out.
